The Maremma Regional Park
The Maremma Regional Park (Parco Regionale della Maremma), also known as Uccellina Park (Parco dell’Uccellina) covers a coastal area between Principina a Mare and Talamone near Grosseto, Magliano in Toscana and Orbetello, right up to the Livorno-Roma train line.
The park covers 9000 hectares plus an extra 8500 hectares of open land around its boundaries. It can possible visit the park in every seasons, throught different paths based on durantion and difficulty that permit admire all the typical ecosystem in the park area.
The lively vegetation accompaign by the smell of the flowers and sights that delight the senses, and harsh, raw wildlife. This clash of natural sensations gives visitors the impression of being truly at one with nature and makes this the perfect place to get away from otherwise hectic lives, relax and de-stress. The closeness to the sea produces an hypnotic suggestion.
In Parco dell’Uccellina, near the city of Grosseto, you will find the ancient San Rabano Abbey which dates back to the 9th or 10th century. There are many other monuments, and churches which can be found throughout the region which dates back to the 13th century. In this area the nature and different itineraries make possible to visit the park by foot or bicycle.
The landscape is rich and diverse, different kinds of animals and plants live in the entire area.
